Optimizing the Integrated Pest Management

Last update: 23 October 2019

Depending on the sociological and agro-ecological context, we strive to optimize integrated control strategies based on an optimal combination of vector control, actions to limit the contact of populations with vectors, and treatments preceded by diagnosis or even vaccines. This approach is supported by demographic and socio-anthropological surveys in the field to gain a better understanding of the organization and functioning of communities, which determine their exposure to the disease or their perception of control programs. The systematic projection of this information into a Geographic Information System (GIS) provides a more global vision of the risk distribution, adapted to each outbreak, and thus helps in the decision-making process for the application of optimized control strategies. As a whole, characterization of pests, hosts, reservoirs and vectors is linked together in models, such as a multi-agent modeling system that would allow an optomized control.
