Epidemiological surveillance

Last update: 23 October 2019

It is based on large and diverse samples both in terms of biological diversity (humans, animals, vectors, bacteria, parasites) and in terms of diversity of tissues investigated (blood, dermis, cerebrospinal fluid, lymphatic fluid, etc.), and provides information on the evolution of the prevalence/incidence and spatial distribution of Trypanosomatids in human or animal populations, as well as in their potential vectors and reservoirs. These data make it possible to establish which are the human and animal reservoirs (especially latent/chronic carriers), and their role in epidemiological cycles and elimination strategies.
