Sensitization of populations and of the public at large

Last update: 23 October 2019

INTERTRYP is involved in awareness-raising actions in communities impacted by NTDs-Tryp and also with the general public or the youth.

We carry out communication actions towards local communities, generally with the primary aim of raising awareness leading to original productions. This is the case of a theatre play on HAT, staged by a theatre company in Guinea ("la Muse") accompanied by IRD researchers and partners, that performed more than 20 times in towns and villages prior to medical prospecting or vector control actions, and/or films ("la maladie du bout de la piste", IRD production), radio broadcasts, posters, in Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, etc. We can also point out more than 10 interviews/reports/year in the 8 p.m. news at the Radio TV of Guinea, several appearances on RFI (2017, 2018, 2019), BBC Africa, or in daily newspapers for the general public in France (Le Monde, Figaro Santé) and in the countries where we work (Fraternité Matin in Côte d'Ivoire, for ex.), or on popular science websites: scidev.net, for ex.. Also noteworthy are actions aimed at the youth, for example via days on this topic at high schools (Quito, Bobo-Dioulasso), or attendance at general public-events such as the agriculture fair in Paris, or conferences in Alliances and French Institutes abroad.
