Training Workshop “Trapping and identification of hematophagous flies and comparison of attracting devices”

The first entomological training of the COMBAT project took place in Gran Canaria from May 16 to 20, 2022. This workshop was delivered by two entomologists from Intertryp, Marc Desquesnes and Geoffrey Gimonneau, for the benefit of our partners from the University of Las Palmas Gran Canaria (ULPGC). Capacity building was achieved through several sessions alternating theoretical presentations, trapping sessions in the field, laboratory identification of blood-sucking flies and comparison of attraction devices using Latin squares.

The acquired expertise will enable this team to conduct surveys on blood-sucking flies as well as the evaluation of new traps planned under the project.
